Panasonic TC-P65S2 65-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV Review

Panasonic TC-P65S2 Product Information

The Panasonic TC-P65S2 65-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV is a quality plasma HDTV but you should read these TC-P65S2 reviews before buying one. You may be surprised.

The Panasonic TC-P65S2 65-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV features NeoPDP technology which provide fantastic balance of black and white even under the brightest of environments. As with most new HDTVs, the TC-P65S2 is also energy efficient. The NeoPDP Plasma panel on the Panasonic TC-P65S2 reduces reflections while creating a sharper picture with improved contrast. TheTC-P65S2 features 1080p HD resolution and a 600Hz sub-field drive that results in improved motion clarity.

The TC-P65S2 Plasma HDTV also comes with the Panasonic VIERA Image Viewer features that allows you to play slideshows of JPGs from SD memory cards right on your Panasonic TC-P65S2. Couple this with the VIERA Link feature, and the Panasonic TC-P65S2 becomes one of the better plasma HDTV products available.

Best Panasonic TC-P65S2 Review

I've owned the Panasonic TC-P65S2 65-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV for two weeks and all I can say is wow. The picture quality of the Panasonic TC-P65S2 is outstanding! I'm fairly surprised that the picture quality of the Panasonic TC-P65S2 is actually better than my Sharp Aquos. The black levels on the TC-P65S2 65-Inch 1080p Plasma TV are very detailed. The out of box video settings are set to "vivid". Although that makes the colors "pop", it does distort flesh-tone colors. That said, I used the DVD HD Basics Calibration Disc to calibrate it. As always, professional calibration of an HDTV such as the 65-Inch 1080p HD Plasma TC-P65S2 TV is always best.

The Panasonic TC-P65S2 comes with a few different preset video settings like Game and Cinema and I find them useful, actually. When watching movies, you should definitely use the Cinema setting and when gaming, set it to Game so it creates good black levels while increasing overall color levels.

Overall, I am very happy with my Panasonic TC-P65S2 65-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV

Plasma TV Technology

A PDP (plasma display panel) is common to larger HDTVs such as the Panasonic TC-P65S2. It is because they rely on plasma cells that they are called plasma screens (or televisions). The plasma cells that make up the TC-P65S2 are essentially tiny fluorescent lamps (millions of them). These lamps are compartmentalized between two glass panels.

Without getting into to much scientific detail, the gas in these compartments forms a plasma when electricity is applied, creating the picture. If you are interested in the science behind a plasma TV such as the Panasonic TC-P65S2, check out wikipedia.
